Bush Tales: A Bold Park History Walk

Date & Time
03 May 2025 09:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Timezone
(UTC+08:00) Australia/Perth

Bold Park is now an important patch of remnant urban bushland, but the park and the surrounding garden suburbs have an industrial past in the early days of the Swan River Colony.

Limestone blocks and mortar quarried from Reabold Hill were used in the construction of many of Perth’s early buildings while farms and a slaughterhouse were established in the surrounding area. Camel Lake was used as a watering and quarantine facility for camels during the goldrush.

Fortunately, the value of the uncleared bushland was recognised and it was reserved as a public park. Since then, the Friends of Bold Park Bushland continue to work to protect the park from development proposals, rehabilitate the bushland, and share the natural values of Bold Park with the local community.

Join the Friends of Bold Park Bushland volunteer guides to learn about the history of Bold Park and the surrounding suburbs, as as well as seeing some of the natural treasures that can be found throughout the bushland.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and come dressed for the weather with a hat and drinking water.

Bookings are not required, but please let us know if you are bringing a group of 10 or more people. Our events go ahead in rain or shine, however walks may be cancelled if a severe weather warning is in place.
