Bold Park in Bloom

September is the best time of year to see the wide variety of wildflowers that are in bloom in our local bushland areas. Join the Friends of Bold Park Bushland volunteer guides this month to see and learn about these unique plants during one of our regular guided walks.

Several species of wattle are still holding their fluffy, bright yellow flowers while ash-grey flower stalks waft up from the green branches of the smokebush. The vines of native wisteria climb up on other bushes to display their bright purple flowers while the white flowers of a sundew poke up just above ground level. 

It is also peak orchid season in Bold Park with pink fairy, spider and donkey orchids all emerging. The many flowers provide food for a wide variety of insects, providing pollination services in return to ensure more plants and blooms will appear next year.

This free wildflower walks start at 9am from the WA Ecology Centre car park, near the northern end of Perry Lakes Drive. 

Wear shoes that are comfortable for walking and come dressed for the forecast weather, including a hat and drinking water. Please note that there are no toilets in Bold Park, with the nearest facilities at Perry Lakes Reserve.

Our events go ahead in rain or shine, however walks will be cancelled if a severe weather warning is in place at the time of the walk.
